You say ideas can be separated from individuals. Prove it.

I won't try to say I can prove it but I think there is something worthy to
consider here.  A person's ideas come from thoughts about things (objects,
phenomena). Without any things to think about you can't very well have an
idea.  This of course is not some original thought of mine, I have heard
this discussed in Buddhism and it is said that because of this a person's
thoughts really don't belong to them.  So if a person's thoughts are not
their own can you really say that an idea belongs to an individual?
