[MD] How is atheism a religion?

Ian, you know I wasn't talking about labels.
Why do you think that etymologically the words of binding and religion are
connected? Please answer without falling back on the fact that in the end
words are just arbitrary symbols; surely words can be connected to their
intended meanings in other that merely symbolic ways.
