Hi Peter, my comment was aimed at Marsha rather than you, just
happened to follow you in the thread.

The connection (binding) between binding and religion I see as firmly
cultural not just etynological - I've not actually researched any
common aspects of the word roots - (but if I did, that would just be
cultural evolution anyway).

My "labels" point was about people getting all emotive about the label
"religion" (and all its baggage) - when it can quite simply mean
"belief system" - just like the word science.

Scientists of a given flavour "bind" together culturally, just like
religious believers of a given faith do, though they are often blind
to it.

(Hey, we've arrived at the double blind double bind - catch22 again -
well I never.)
