Everybody,
One more point that attaches to my last posting, which
is...
Can't I just go fishing and be with my family more
than I have to increasingly get $ to pay bills and buy
more and more stuff so this culture can survive? Just
think if a lot of people in this culture quit buying
TV's, Radios, MP3 players, make-up, knick-knacks,
cars, didn't go to the hospital, etc... I am not
saying we need to do any of this. My point is if we
stopped buying a lot of stuff on a mass scale this
culture would collapse. This is a consuming culture
in more than one way.
Thus, our social, family, and quality time with
this universe is eaten away more and more by our
thinking that buying anything, no matter what it is on
the shelf in the store is the only Way to keeping a
culture alive. Now not only is freedom and
consumerism meaning the same from my perspective, but
culture is also meaning the same as these two concepts
as well, at least in this culture. Let the intellect
step in. Let's be able to think and have the cultural
space to do something about this. As I have
repeatedly said here, Wisdom is knowledge put in
action. Let us have Wisdom.
It would be nice to be able to sit by the fire
and discuss, motivate, and leave to do something about
this as I remember when I was younger living in these
here parts. We used to sit around a fire and talk
about stuff. Anything, sometimes it was about what
somebody was doing that was not healthy. We left the
fire, and each on our own would try to discuss with
this friend of ours how what he was doing was not
healthy. Eventually this friend would do something
about his life and came to sit by the fire with us to
maybe just talk about where we wanted to hunt, fish,
we philosophized, or just had enough time to sit by
that fire. I still at times sit by a fire, but
increasingly the path in my life deverts me from where
that fire is. The only people by the fire have been
my wife and I recently. I could go and sit by that
fire more often I admit, but I don't have the choice
to not increasingly have to be working and buying. I
am glad that after I bought this computer, began
paying the bill for the internet, paid the bill for
electricity, bill for rent, not to mention all the
other bills and needs to get to work to buy all this
stuff so I can at least have this free discussion
within this free forum on the MOQ. I think I made my
point, I'm done for now.
Thanks everybody,
SA
