Hi Heather,

You asked 'When an atheist hears the word "God" what comes
to the mind of an atheist as to what that word might
mean'.

It refers to an omniscient and omipotent supernatural being that some people
believe created everything including themselves; this being can be
petitioned through prayer and will grant immortality to the believer
provided the believer meets certain conditions. To me as an athiest it means
that the person who believes is subject to a strong conditioning whereby
they are willing to accept as fact something for which they have no real
foundation and so are ultimately not to be trusted.
