Why narrow minded? Even scientists look to beauty as a measure of the 
validity of their equations.

Right. Great art, like beauty, transcends generations. There's no 
"progress" in either. Are our buildings more beautiful than the 
Parthenon? Are our churches more beautiful than Chartes? Are our dishes 
more beautiful that Greek vases? Are our musical compositions more 
beautiful than Mozart's?
