Hi Lanz --

Although it was short-lived, I was gratified by your support of my assertion
that nihilism is the greatest obstacle to philosophical advancement in the
postmodern age.

Now you say it's government's control of economics. I know this is an
important issue for you, and am not exactly surprised that you chose it as
your opening challenge for the MD. Indeed, I can understand your
frustration with public-supported education that fosters indoctrination to
the liberal persuasion. I'm only aware of this indirectly, from a close
friend and former schoolmate who has just retired as professor of
Bio-chemistry at Wofford College in Spartansburg, SC. He has informed me
that the liberal view dominates institutions of higher learning today,
particularly in the teaching of English and the humanities.

Since you are about to be besieged by the majority on this forum, some of
whom are currently placed in academia, I suggest that you spell out in some
detail the facts of your argument. I suspect that what you have to say will
relate philosophically to the nihilistic agenda I have cited. From our
previous correspondence, I know that you are well equipped to take on all
antagonists. Then again, Randians are not known for advocating a return to
spiritualistic values. So I'm looking forward to a most interesting debate.

Although I am unfortunately unable to provide first-hand information as to
the status of today's undergraduate instruction, I am sympathetic with your
cause and will support your argument as best I can on philosophic grounds.
May I also suggest that you change the title of this thread to something
more appropriate, such as 'Is education a liberal sounding board?'.

Good luck,
Ham
