SA,

SA said (about my referring to quantum physics):
Since you seem to know what you are talking about
here, please explain. What do you mean quantum
physics doesn't recognize space-time? ...

Scott:
See my response to Peter in this thread. I didn't say that quantum physics
doesn't recognize space-time, or at least that is not what I meant. I meant
that quantum physics cannot be understood in terms of spacetime.

SA said:
 Do you mean
because it has not yet come together with Einsteins
theories dealing with gravity?

Scott:
No. Relativity also shows a spatiotemporal limit. As Einstein noted, if a
photon were aware, it would not be aware of space and time -- that is,
something travelling at the speed of light would not notice a spatiotemporal
separation between its destination and its source, so it can't be said to
"travelling" at all. As I see it, this lends support to my assumption that
consciousness is that which creates the separation.

If you are interested in exploring this thesis, I recommend the book "The
Dimensional Structure of Consciousness: A Physical Basis for Immaterialism"
by Samuel Avery.
