Hello Smith, Margaret, and others,
Smith said: "Do you recall the female doctor
conducting the experiments talking about "the person"
in cell V? XX? XY? XX->XY? or something new?
I don't remember her. I will probably have to
see this again. It's funny. In the beginning of the
movie I was tired and fell asleep on and off for 1
minute here, 1 minute there, and it definitely wasn't
because of the movie. I was really tired. Then I
finally stayed awake for most of the movie.
Smith said: "We can all be hero's but not
everyone is a chief."
This is along the lines that I am thinking. This
also coincides with much of your question and
statement format earlier in your post that included
this quote of yours. On the MOQ stands up and has an
idea. An idea that leads other people along a train
of thought and discussion. Sooner or later somebody
else stands up and has an idea. An idea that only a
natural leader would have. Then somebody else, and so
on. Natural leader because you have an idea and we go
along with it. Then the idea is over and we find
ourselves facing another challenge, topic or etc...
So somebody else stands up and gives an idea that
would lead, and thus, they are the leader now. What
if somebody keeps coming up with the ideas over and
over again? Is that really possible? Wouldn't you
think that somebody else will have an idea that will
necessarily take us in another direction? Yet, if we
solidify, literalize, or prominate (spelling?) like a
celebrity, only one person or several people in a way
that is far beyond them really giving any more ideas
about something, yet, we just follow them because we
get caught up in the social aspect of the situation
and soon forget about the intellectual. If, we get
caught up in the social long enough, wouldn't that
blind us to somebody else having a good, quality idea
that intellectually takes us in a direction that is of
good quality?
Smith said: "..."putting it (MOQ) to practical
use" i see no evidence of it...:
Isn't being open-minded in having the effort as I
outlined above. Thus, if we hold in high regard being
open-minded not just on the MOQ, but during the rest
of life actions away from the computer, we would be
listening here on the MOQ as well as practically off
the MOQ.org, too. Isn't this a practice that involves
itself not just on the MOQ.org, but during the rest of
our life, too? Just like meditating, when I meditate
in a closed-eye sitting position and have the blissful
experience I have during that time, it becomes
something of a desire to have that kind of experience
all the time. Will I experience ugly moments? Sure
while I meditate and while I don't meditate in the way
I just mentioned - I will have ugly moments. What do
I do about this? Sometimes I ask myself or think back
at what I did about these ugly moments while I was
sitting in meditation, I stay calm and realize just as
in my meditation, the storm will pass. The strong
wind will calm and I will endure. What if the moment
is too strong and I don't endure? Well, I don't
endure.
Smith said: "...then someone throws a cigarette,
the pile flares up first then spreads to the
surrounding leaves eventually burning down the whole
forest while MOQers fiddle in the MD."
I don't get much practice philosophically
discussing outside of the MOQ.org. Yet, I hope with
this practice I will have the awareness of noticing
when the "...surrounding leaves eventually..." begin
"...burning down the whole forest..." Actually I hope
our intellect is sharp enough to recognize when a
cigarette is being lit to be thrown on the pile of
leaves.
Margaret asked: "AND, one other thing - are any
of you aware of the writings of Thich Nhat Hanh?"
Yes, I read "Living Buddha, Living Christ". An
interesting read. Congratulations on the "best of
show" and "honorable mention" in the art show. I
looked at the pictures. They had a lot of depth to
them. I felt very involved and could spend a lot of
time looking at them.
Dan Glover said: "Oh, please quit groveling."
Dan aren't you groveling about Smith groveling,
and now I may just be pointing this out, or am I
groveling, too? It doesn't matter. Groveling seems
to be a way to get a particular point across as long
as we all stay calm when somebody grovels, unless, we
grovel too long beyond the point of were staying calm
doesn't happen and we all start groveling... so on and
so forth. I say this Dan with a smile.
There are still other postings in this [MD] that
I haven't read yet, but I gotta go to work. Talk to
everybody later!
