So much to comment on, but I'll chose this.

at odds with Modern human rights. But from a big picture, evolutionary and
historical perspective we can say that both kinds of rights are correct,
were good, or otherwise recognize the quality of the cultural values they
assert."

And this is what I was getting at when I asked if God changed his mind. Of 
course all that has gone on before was neccessary for what now exists. We 
have had millions of years to change into what we are and change comes 
slowly and incrementally and does not always go forward or backward.

 "There are subjects and objects and nothing else."

This is the sort of philosophical statement which make my eyes cross and 
make me want to ask "So What?" I know there is an attempt here to explain 
something very basic. Does one need to understand this statement with some 
depth in order to go forward?
