Four principles of neoconservatism:
1) "A belief that the internal character of regimes matters",  (as opposed to "realism" in foreign affairs, which is concerned with the external character of regimes only.)
2) "A belief in the use of American power for moral purposes",  (interventionist, rather than isolationist.)
3) "A distrust of ambitious social engineering", (pro-limited government, rather than pro-big government.)
4) "A skepticism about the effectiveness of international law and institutions to achieve either security or justice", (nationalist, rather than internationalist.)
