You are asking some very fundamental questions here. Before you know it
the Marxist label is going to be slapped on in this forum. This
conversation has been going around for a while and how much of enough is
enough.
No welfare does not work, but a safety net to afford everybody shelter,
food, health care and education is a sign of how well adjusted the
society is.

Instead we built jails and fences.

Part of the immigration issue with Mexico has to do with china believe it
or not. Most of the factories we set up there are not too expensive to
run, so we dismantle them and send them to chine, until that gets
expensive, then we go somewhere else.
