Heather,

I'm not sure if I have the fore-sight either.

But some possible signs right now:

Consider the pressure on college admissions boards to create "diverse" student demographics. Superficial biological attributes are sometimes favored over intellectual abilities, in order to satisfy social pressures. A net negative intellectual situation. Arguably, these social pressures are caused by population pressures.

  Will the beast run loose?

I will, possibly next thursday. But I am seriously troubled by what this country might look like in twenty years. Or even ten. Without wilderness and the possibility for physical freedom, we (free-minded people) will be forced to make a choice: succumb to domestication or fight our good and kindly shepherds.

We can't expect to retain wilderness with massive immigration/overpopulation.

I could go on and on and cite people like Ed Abbey, Aldous Huxley, all the usual suspects, but you get the picture.

  Ayar and others,

Ayar asked: "But will the free-minded be
condemned to dissident status in an over populated and
over governed world?"

This question is good. Another spin-off question
could even be, as the population of the world grows,
does the beast run loose? Is the will of the
intellectual level weakened by an ever-increasing
population? I don't know if we can have the
fore-sight to see that far ahead, or are there signs
right now that give us the answers?
