Can you point out where I imply we "should have done nothing"?
[Platt]
"I don't (grant) your noble concerns in containing Iran."
[Arlo's comment]
Even if I grant (which I don't) your noble concerns in containing Iran, the
way Reagan and the republicans went about it was deplorable and immoral.
[Arlo]
So, my saying to you I doubt your concerns were noble, means to you we
should have done nothing at all? That doesn't make sense, Platt. You're
stretching.
[Arlo previously]
In any case, what should Carter have done differently?
[Platt]
What Reagan did.
[Arlo]
Acted immorally?
[Arlo previously]
Then let's pretend our interests are wholly noble, and not motivated by
economics, because Heaven forbid a few thousand dark-skinned lives are
worth a drop in profits and wealth here in America.
[Platt]
Ah, playing the race card, I see. You liberals are incorrigible. As for the
rest, we've exchanged views.
[Arlo]
If its not their non-whiteness, what else could it be that would lead you
to believe "protecting US interests" was worth the cost of millions of dead
from a war we double-dipped arms sales, and enabled the use of chemical
weapons? Was the Iranian civilians killed by the gas "worth less" than US
interests?
[Arlo]
Your only solution for shortening the conflict is "killing more people"?
Good luck with that.
[Platt]
Kill or be killed. What's your pleasure?
[Arlo]
Ah, yes. "Fear". The Party Foundation.
