Humans know selfishness, greed, honesty, pride and quality. That's why 
there's money -- the means by which we trade our works in the global 
marketplace. Otherwise, our works would be limited to the cumbersome 
and geographically restrictive barter system. Also as Craig said, money 
is way to store our present works for future consumption when we're 
unable to work. There are many more benefits of a money economy. Any 
good pimer on economics will list them all.
