Hi Micah

Yes, of course there is the problem with democracy
regarding the dictatorship of the majority. That's why
it is good to also uphold liberal and plural values to
allow minorities to pursue interests that do not hard
society as a whole or the ultimate minority the individual
unnecessarily. My point is that we should question the
system and look for ways to improve it. Too many people
seem to think we have arrived at the best of all possible
systems of exchange and division of labour. This seems
to be a very rosy way to look at the present system.
Of course it is a system that is more than individual
inclinations, as socialisation upholds decisions that
were taken in the past and not taken by any deliberate
decision of the current people who find themselves
conforming to the system. That's very basic sociology
is it not?
