[Case]
The only reason you all can yammer on about rational
abstraction and
walks in the woods is because in most places we hid
our Sin two blocks off the main drag and nobody but
fools or strangers makes a wrong turn into THAT part
of town.
Exactly. Case, this is what I meant by the
system and the person in the mirror. We cannot sweep
under the rug the 'sin two blocks away'. This whole
system, including that, is seen in the mirror. I walk
in the woods trying to get away from work, and yet, I
am well aware without those woods work with those
troubled girls would overwhelm me. Without a strong
family those troubled girls would overwhelm me. We
build and walk amidst these comforts that help block
out these 'things' that would overwhelm us. This is
not totally on our lap though Case. I face children
with hopes and good dreams on a platter within reach
of them, and yet, many of them have already passed go
and their behaviors will endure. All make it through
the residential facility and either go to lock down or
go home. Those that go home, the fight is not over.
Our program works with the family, but old habits die
hard, especially if nothing of what we offer is
internalized. We can only help half-way, and these
residents must come the other half. Are we totally at
fault and having sin, at times? Sure. Are we not
totally at fault and having sin, at times? Sure.
Thanks Case for not oversimplifying the situation
in society and the world can be added to the mix as
well. Ham's list is dehumanizing, without feeling,
and just this straight out listing of negative
behaviors. I could make a list of what's bad in the
world too. Such as war, famine, etc..., but anybody
that thinks they can wrap this all up with a list, and
doesn't look beyond such a list, is trapped in a
logical bubble.
Thanks,
SA
