[Ham responded]
According to Pirsig, existence is everything, and
reality is simply a
melding of all differences into Quality. We don't
experience things
this way, but we can pretend that differences don't
exist.
And this is why Ham doesn't get MoQ. Right off
the bat Ham says the MoQ is pretending. And why are
differences and not-to-have-differences a matter of
pretending and not pretending? This is a basic
hindrance.
[Ham goes on]
We can also delude ourselves into thinking that value
is morality.
So now the MoQ deludes itself.
[Ham continues]
We can be Pollyannas and view the world as a beautiful
moral order. This isn't philosophy, it's poetic
fancy.
Oh, now the MOQ is poetic fanciful, not a
philosophy. Hmmmm, thus far your philosophizing
argument against the MoQ is that it PRETENDS, DELUDES,
and is POETIC FANCY. Those are real full blown
philosophic arguments (sarcastic). Glad to see you
know how to philosophize. (oooooh, another sarcastic
murmur from the bleachers by the trickster clown).
[Ham again]
There is no metaphysical or scientific theory to
support such a view.
Because you say so. Wow... I mean... wow... I
must believe you now, cause you, Ham, said so. Now if
you could include why what you said has validity, then
maybe, maybe... yeah, I'm still open, I listen,
sometimes your ideas help generate a discussion, but
for now, I just couldn't hold back on this convincing
argument of yours (again sarcastic).
And this is why Ham has difficulty with the MoQ.
But I must admit, I'm stuck with the woods as much as
he's stuck with essence, maybe.
