David M, here I have to disagree with you and agree with Rebecca.
One of the many things Horse's moderation of MoQ.Discuss gets right,
is to not only tolerate, but embrace the reality of personal conflict,
provided people's apparent motives are for a greater good (in MoQ
terms). I may think DMB's personal aggression is misguided, but I know
he means well, and is passionate about the subject. We both believe
the MoQ holds a better world-view, we disagree violently only on
tactics for progressing that fact. DMB is for head-on attack, I'm for
working with people. Time and a place for both. Head on attack is
safer by e-mail than duelling with loaded weapons.
DMB will tell you that when I met him face to face and heard him speak
on the Orpheus mythology, I could not stop chuckling at the idea this
was the same persona I'd previously encountered on-line.
Fortunately MoQ.Discuss is not set up to manage public perceptions of
MoQ debates, (unfortunately nothing is set up for that either, which
is a different problem).
Anyway, I believe, given the will, that the right MoQ picture will
emerge / evolve / prevail, as Rebecca noted.
Careful with that axe, DMB.
