Again Arlo, I agree with you, but would point out ..
This Selfish vs Selfless debate is a crude and unnecessary
polarization. Much better is something like "enlightened
self-interest" based on a decent framework or metaphysics of what
reality is about .... something like, say the MoQ ... recognising the
interlinked reality of the levels and their dynamic interactions ?
My (selfish or selfless) act cannot be treated in isolation.
(Calling a spade a spade, by the way ... battling against that western
"hypocrisy" again. People just love to play with words, believing
erroneously that they are working with objects.)
