So. Do you want to tackle Craig's hypothetical? Even though it is
ridiculous? Here, I'll even repost it for you.
Craig said:
"Suppose man evolves into a new species [= homo superus]. They are like us
except they can perceive (besides visible light) infrared, ultra-violet,
x-rays, brain waves, etc. This last gives them the power of mental
telepathy amongst themselves. They grow up with us, speak the same
language, attend the same schools, etc. (The homo superuses in a class have
been known to turn in identical test papers.) They tell us our reality is a
subset of theirs. They understand ours completely, but they are only able
to inform us of some parts of their reality by simplifying it for us. You
are chatting with a group of them & mention that homo sapiens is the measure
of all things. In unison they fall to the floor, rolling & laughing."
Are they now the measure of all things?
Here's a nother absurd one I just came up with:
What would you say if monkeys learnt to speak. Not just with sign language,
but full out vocalization, in english. And told you that they were the
measure of all things. Would you fall down on the floor and start laughing?
I know, I know. Absurd. But it's in the absurd our ideas are truly tested I
feel.
