Ron Kulp said Jim or vice versa:
I'm interested to know what you think of Joseph Campbell. I've admired his
work after seeing him on PBS with Bill Moyers a few years ago. I have his
book, 'Myths to Live By' right here on my desk but I haven't found the time
to read it yet. I've kind of put his work on a pedestal similar to that
done by Pirsig, just that Joseph tackled the mystical side of things.

dmb says:
I'm a big fan of Campbell too. Toward the end of Lila Pirsig mentions his
"Masks of God". That'll knock your socks off. His first book, The Hero with
a Thousand Faces is a must too. I delivered a paper that mixes Campbell and
Pirsig at the conference in Liverpool last year, which can be read at
robertpirsig.org. Its titled Fun with Blasphemy, but the link will just say
"david buchanan's paper". There I tried to look at "the mystical side of
things". It might even be the sort of thing you're looking for. I hope so.
