Khaled Alkotob stated to Platt Holden October 31st:
You hear so many lies, you end up repeating Limbaugh and the rest without
thinking for yourself.
Ant McWatt comments:
Too true Khaled but I do have some good news for Platt & Ham. I found a
couple of websites which might help both of them develop a more critical,
dare I say, enlightened view. No need for them to thank me though, its a
pleasure to share this information with them.
The first website is www.iraqforsale.org
This features details of Robert Greenwalds new documentary on the Iraq
occupation. The blurb on the website says:
RIVETING, POWERFUL BLEW MY MIND
The story of what happens to everyday Americans when corporations go to
war. Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low
Price, Outfoxed, and Uncovered) takes you inside the lives of soldiers,
truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result
of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the
connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the
decision makers who allow them to do so.
Fortunately, Platt and Ham will both be able to see it at a movie theatre
near them soon as there is helpfully a link to a number of public buildings
showing the documentary in the forthcoming month:
iraqforsale.bravenewtheaters.com/screenings/us/
A website which includes a video clip of Iraq For Sale as well as a number
of other clips about the Iraqi occupation, the environment etc. is:
www.truthout.org/multimedia.htm
Youll be both pleased to note this website is Fox News _and_ Rush Limbaugh
free and contains clips with the following descriptions:
NATIONAL YAWN AS OUR RIGHTS EVAPORATE
A government more dangerous to our liberty than is the enemy it claims to
protect us from, says Keith Olbermann. We have accepted that the only way
to stop the terrorists is to let the government become just a little bit
like the terrorists.
[Ant McWatt comments: Sounds about right to me]
HAVE YOU NO SENSE OF DECENCY, SIR?
Mr. Bush, you are accomplishing in part what Osama Bin Laden and others
seek - a fearful American populace, easily manipulated, and willing to throw
away any measure of restraint, any loyalty to our own ideals and freedoms,
for the comforting illusion of safety.
[Ant McWatt comments: Again, sounds about right to me]
GRANT COLLINS: ITS MY DUTY TO SPEAK OUT
A Film by Scott Galindez
Marine Corporal Grant Collins describes what it was like to participate in
the war in Iraq. He also describes what it is like to live with giving
orders that resulted in the deaths of civilians.
[Ant McWatt comments: The death toll of civilian casualties in Iraq has now
gone past the 650,000 figure since it was invaded in March 2003. A
shameful figure. As such, it beggars belief that Platt and Ham have the
gall to say that they _still_ support the occupation.]
FIVE FASTERS ARRESTED DURING BLAIR VISIT TO WHITE HOUSE
A Report by Geoffrey Millard and Scott Galindez
On the 25th day of the Troops Home Fast, four fasters and one supporter,
ranging in age from 58 to 74, were arrested attempting to block British
Prime Minister Tony Blair from exiting the White House. Diane Wilson, one of
the arrestees, said their goal was to keep Tony Blair and George Bush in
their room until they came up with a plan to end the war.
[Ant McWatt comments: Now that does sound funny, who said academics dont
have a sense of humour?]
