Mike,

as I understand Pirsig, both emotional and intellectual responses are
already static. He said that dynamic quality is the event.

Take seeing for instance: it must manifest first in the inorganic then the
reaction filters through the organ of the eye; the brain then makes
associations from the image and the basic, life supporting functions get
involved - is there any immediate danger represented by this image, finally
the intellect gets to play.

I agree: the emotional reactions occur before the intellectual. But perhaps
the response happens in the opposite order.
