I would remind you that the truth of Goedel's Theorem, indeed mathematical
truths in general, are intuitive rather than empirical. No one has ever
seen with her eyes the square root of -1. Even rationality is intuitive. The
"sound follow up" you desire is more moral than rational. Those characters you
mention had plenty of good reasons (in their mind) to commit their crimes. In
fact, morality itself has come mostly from intuition -- until Pirsig tried to give
it a rational foundation backed by empirical evidence.
