Hi DMB,

The metaphyiscal hole ... I think I said it. I don't see anything
inconsistent. I'm agnostic in the hole. Fill out such speculative gaps
with anything you like, they're all metaphors anyway, until you start
to build knowledge on the edge of the hole.

Pirsig's explicit anti-theistic stance. Look let's not roll out that
quote again, or I'll have to point out the following subordinate
clause "in that context". I simply want to change the subject here -
(and I appreciate you don't).

Let's move on, a feel free to point out any new inconsistencies that
arise. (As I 've said in other contexts, nothing is more sure to sting
me than an accusation of inconsitency, being wrong I can handle.)

Of course "logical" inconsistency is part of reality, so we'll need to
proceed carefully. And again, I have no clue what metaphysics is any
more. (Some interesting stuff on Paul Turner's site about that
recently.)

There's stuff you believe because it's grounded (in experience etc.)
And stuff you believe because it's convenient circumstantially (and
remember not to forget that's why you believe it. Forgetfullness or
ignorance of that fact is the killer.) But both are contingent on new
experience. How hard can it be ?
