Pholden,
Fascism:
A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a
dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition
through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent
nationalism and racism.
The USA has stringent socioeconomic controls, is clearly nationalist and
racist, suppresses opposition by labeling dissenters as terrorist or
unpatriotic (nationalism again) while manipulating the media; and W has and
is continuing to consolidate power in his presidency (dictatorship). While
we are not completely or strongly fascist, we are clearly a fascist state.
The question isn't - are we a fascist state?, but how did we let this happen
and can we reverse it. I guess the first step is to recognize fascism and to
stop defending a fascist government by saying - "define fascism".
By the way, the USA did not win the Baseball World Championship (again) - it
was shown on ESPN until the USA was knocked out and yes MLB players were
involved.
Defending freedom implies attack, and the USA has suffered only one
meaningful attack, 9-11-01 (and more Americans die in auto accidents in one
month). We don't defend, we attack. And speaking of attack, your freedom is
under attack by your own government. Clinton used "Child pornography" and
"drugs" to attack freedom (1995 Telephony Act) and Bush uses "terrorism"
(torture, secret courts, etc.). And attacking others is nothing to be proud
of.
That mad rush of people immigrating to the U.S. you always hear about...I
believe that is called propaganda. The number of people that don't immigrate
here or those that don't even consider it, puts the immigration trickle into
perspective.
Just wondering, could you be brainwashed by college professors? Or just
other people.
Micah

Define fascist.

Americans have every reason to be proud of their country that has shed lots
of blood defending intellectual level freedoms from barbarians.

Baseball was invented in the U.S. and is the national game. No other country
has so much invested in the teams and the sport. You would have a point if
a number of other countries were competitive.

You must have met college students who have been brainwashed by professors
who worship Noam Chomsky.

Misery? Millions of people all over the world are dying to come to U.S. to
end their misery.
Incidentally, why do you make it hard to read your writing by deliberately
avoiding use of capital letters? Is it some form of protest? Just wondering.
