[MD] Racism

Hi SA,
Obviously I can't base views on racism from a movie, and I wasn't
expecting Platt to be moved by four words of text from me. I do think
that a lot of real life situations are portrayed in the movie (perhaps
in hindsight I should have mentioned these first). For example, as
you mentioned, some people use their race/color to promote their
image. Racism as promoted by egotism (see ZMM).
Another example, look at ultra-conservative Bob Jones University,
which had a no-interracial-dating policy only repealed before a
convnient George W Bush campaign visit. Racism as promoted by
intolerant religious right.
Also, look at North Carolina gerrymandering. District 12...

...is basically drawn around a highway with the occasional jump to
"grab" a black neighborhood so as to but them all in one voting
district. Racism as promoted by politics.
I'm no expert on BJU or the NC gerrymandering case, so if someone
knows more then help out. I don't live near there, I live in
Michigan. I could mention some racism examples from here as well, but
right now I'm going to go to bed seeing as it's after 2 AM.
Regards,
Steve H
