There already is a way.  It's called "planned obsolesence".
The trick is figuring out a way to make IMPROVEMENT profitable.  That's what the free market is supposed to do.  Buyers should tend to buy the best (economic) value, providing it doesn't violate their other values (e.g., wasn't made in a sweat shop, didn't despoil the environment, etc.)
