Interestingly Platt, you've stumbled on my main agenda.

I do use the word conspiracy for this. The conspiracy is the basis on
which people believe what makes a good argument, but the "collusion in
secret" is kinda metaphorical. In fact it's a cultural denial, a
memetic conspiracy. A (mainly)western culture sleepwalking toward
disaster. No conspiracy in the literal intentional unlawful sense, but
"criminal" in the metaphorical sense.

We really ain't as far apart as you'd like to paint us.
I really wish you'd take the effort to understand that.
