[MD] Flying Spagetti Monsters Hubris

The apparent diversity of the press is pure fiction. Most media is controlled by Disney, GE, Time-Warner, etc. So we get the world according to the Big Five. Production companies would have to present the nightly news complete with a “laugh track” to get me to waste my time on the crud that is presented: OJ, Michael Jackson, car chases, when it rains
we get “flood watch”. Please, I’d rather watch my front yard grow or go to a baseball game.

Author Pirsig presents Cops, and Psychiatrists (insanity) as people, who are hell bent on reinforcing the static system of things. I nominate the media industry and journalists; controlled and paid for by the big five to the list. Military experience, and insanity is culturally defined. So veering onward towards the point of this thread: (Apologize for abrupt transition)

“Landing” in the armed forces or a psychiatric hospital are similar experiences and demand a similar degree of conformity (Just my own speculation, since I have no personal experience with these situations). Commit heresy or fail to follow orders and you end up in the brig or are similarly socially isolated forever. Intellect, thoughts, choices are not in the job description. The moral choices are made by Bush, Rumsfeld and Hitler, etc. Heaven help us.

My justification for this paragraph is gotten from the writing of F. Nietzsche circa 1887, 1888.
Justification 1, Power without victories—“The strongest knowledge (that of the total unfreedom of the human will) is nonetheless the poorest in successes: for it always has the strongest opponent, Human vanity”. I call this the problem of human hubris among cops, psychiatrists, static people in general, etc.

Justification 2, ‘Man’s actions are always good’—We do not accuse nature of immorality when it sends us a thunderstorm and makes us wet: why do we call the harmful man immoral? Because in the latter case we assume a voluntarily commanding free-will, in the former necessity. But this distinction is an error. And then: we do not call even intentional harming immoral under all circumstances; one unhesitatingly kills a fly intentionally, for example, merely because one does not like its buzzing, one punishes the criminal intentionally and does him harm so as to protect ourselves and society. All morality allows the intentional causing of harm in the case of self-defence: that is, when it is a matter of self-preservation. But these two points of view suffice to explain all evil acts perpetrated by men against men: one desires pleasure or to ward off displeasure; it is always in some sense a matter of self-preservation. Socrates and Plato are right: whatever man does he always
does the good, that is to say: that which seems to him good (useful) according to the relative degree of his intellect, the measure of his rationality.

Differing degrees of ignorance and vanity inform all of our acts. Loosely borrowing from the Buddha I would call this the problem of human ignorance. Since what I call intelligence and a worthy system of ethics still is none existent on planet earth. Maybe we can’t be held morally responsible for anything yet. The MOQ problem boils down to self preservation and continuing evolution of the species. The number examples of intelligent people born to our species may number less than ten. I would nominate Leonardo De Vinci as an example.

By hitting the send key, I now commit a similar context error of Pope Benedict recently. I apologize in advance.

You almost got it right except for the word "conspiracy." Ian, of course, will
object, but acccording to my Merriam-Webster, to conspire means "to join in a
secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or an act which becomes unlawful
as a result of the secret agreement." Media moguls, college professors, hollywood
types and government employees don't all get together to plot the downfall of the
present administration. They simply believe like Noam Chomsky that the U.S. is
evil incarnate and should become pacifist and socialist like Europe to regain
lost respect of the "international community." Their belief translates into
behavior for all to see who are not blinded by their own leftist agendas.
