Is obtaining food, shelter and clothing -- the basis of an economy -- voluntary?
[Arlo]
Who forced you to obtain these things through our social system? You could hunt
and forage on our public lands for food, make your own clothing and shelter
from the skins of the animals you catch. And if you obtained your basic needs
this way, you'd never have to pay taxes. How cool is that!
[Platt]
To each his own. That's what freedom, the MOQ's highest value, means.
[Arlo]
Sure. But let's not forget the message of ZMM. What people see as "Quality" in
large ways depends on their metaphysical orientation. In an SOM culture, as
described in ZMM, Quality is largely left out. And so people clamor to marketed
style. In a culture that deifies "wealth", many come to believe that wealth
denotes meaning and value. It denotes neither.
[Platt]
Well, if you don't care about wealth, I assume you give most of your income to
charity. I'm I correct?
[Arlo]
Have you stopped beating your wife, Platt?
