I've been battling the static point of view ever since.

What fails to get is that supporting a "free market economy" does not demand
that all things (people, health, education, etc.) be reduced to market
commodities. There are some things that are more important than "market
forces", and should not be regulated by a market; the value of people's lives,
for example, and "access to information" (which is why it is moral for society
to fund public libraries). 

Platt makes the funny claim that his position is "Dynamic", but Pirsig nailed it
as a "slow confused mindless drift back to a kind of pseudo-­Victorian moral
posture". It is movement alright, movement backwards. And it is this is has
been arguing for ever since.
