[Platt]
If you can show me in Lila approval for the exceptions you mention, I'll be
happy to agree.
[Arlo]
If you can show me in Lila approval for reducing life, education, access to
information, etc. to market commodities, I'll be happy to agree.
[Platt]
As for Victorian values, you neglect to mention those Pirsig specifically
lauded.
[Arlo]
He lauded a value here and there, but point me to where he suggests we should
return to their ways? Indeed, as I pointed out, he called such a drift
"immoral".
"And from the early seventies on there has been a slow confused mindless drift
back to a kind of pseudoVictorian moral posture... The Metaphysics of
Quality, however, says that's backward: the Hippie revolution was the moral
movement. The present period is the collapse of values."
[Platt]
But, that's par for the course from a self-proclaimed "critical thinker.
[Arlo]
I'm sorry, when did I say that Pirsig said "all Victorian values were bad". But
masterful attempt at distortion here, Platt.
