[Platt]
Again, you imply the Hippie movement was more
moral than Victorian values, but fail to point
out the reasons why the Hippie movement became a
colossal failure. Hiding again.
[Arlo]
Alright, Platt. That's it. Your distortive little
rhetorical games have now pissed me off. I'm
responding to this round, but I am done.
First... the Hippie movement WAS MORE MORAL than Victorian values.
"... from the early seventies on there has been a
slow confused mindless drift back to a kind of
pseudoVictorian moral posture... [but]
the Hippie revolution was the moral movement.
The present period is the collapse of values" (LILA)
Second, I've posted a dozen or more times,
including LAST NIGHT about where Pirsig talks
about the Hippie movement going wrong. From my post last night.
------------------------
About Hippies, we know Pirsig said this...
"The Hippies have been interpreted as frivolous
spoiled children, and the period following their
departure as a "return to values," whatever that
means. The Metaphysics of Quality, however, says
that's backward: the Hippie revolution was the
moral movement. The present period is the collapse of values." (LILA)
About where the Hippies went wrong, we know Pirsig said this...
"The Hippie rejection of social and intellectual
patterns left just two directions to go: toward
biological quality and toward Dynamic Quality.
The revolutionaries of the sixties thought that
since both are anti-social, and since both are
anti-intellectual, why then they must both be the
same. That was the mistake." (LILA)
We can see from this that the moral trajectory
SHOULD have been a "rejection of social and
intellectual patterns... and toward Dynamic Quality."
------------------------
Indeed, my entire post was meant to look at where
the MORAL MOVEMENT (Hippies) went right while
considering where they went wrong.
Hardly a "failure to point out" anything. But why
bother with the facts, Platt. These inane little
rhetorical games are more fun, aren't they?
Hiding.
Yeah right.
I give up. Find someone new to place with.
