[Platt]
The Big Lie, repeated by you and many others on the left, is that
Bush lied -- a propaganda technique made famous by Joseph Goebbels.
[Arlo]
Platt speaks of the Mighty Wurlitzer, a technique he is very familiar
with it, as it is deployed just as vigorously by the talk-radio
blowhards he emulates as it is by politicians, democratic and
republican. The "Bush Bashing" Wurlitzer, as recently used, is but
one example. And above, in a distorted effort to smear criticism of
Bush, Platt demonstrates the Great Pee-Wee Manuever, taking something
you do and accusing others of the very same. This deflective rhetoric
technique is used so ad nauseum by Platt, you'd think he'd realize we
all get it. All I can figure is that in his deluded self-grandiose
fantasy of playing Limbaugh he forgets that the Pee-Wee is as clear
as glass. I mean, as if Rove and the right-wing army have not all
taken many plays from Goebbels playbook. As if that wasn't as plain
as day to anyone following the news. But, oh no, its just them vile,
evil "libs", those "far-left radicals" that want to take away your
freedom, those lying, conniving, deceitful, manipulative "dems" who
do nothing but "bash" the good, noble, truthful, freedom-loving, holy
warriors of the neoconservative right. Yeah, that's the way it is.
Those damned "adulterous" sex-crazed "lefties" and their lack of
decency, assaulting the family-valued, wholesome honesty and
integrity of the American Conservative.
What's truly sad is that this is how modern political discourse has
degraded. Both sides pounding nonsensical one-line Wurlitzers, while
accusing the other side of the very same thing. You would think those
engaged in a philosophy discussion forum would rise above such
pedantic idiocy, but apparently not. I mean, here we are a million
miles away from the fact that I linked to a video where Bush
demonstrates his incompetence, an incompetence that should embarrass
us all, gloriously distracted by the mire of Platt's deceptive
rhetoric over Bill's blow job. And now its "Clinton lies, Bush never
lied". Pathetic. Expected, but pathetic.
