Many thanks for making this interview available. Lots of good stuff in it.
For me especially Pirsig's comments on insanity and shock treatments
hit home. Also, I got a kick out of the following exchange:

P: Anyway, I think we're moving back to a puritan thing.

Q. What makes you think that?

P: Wishful thinking, perhaps. Or perhaps it's old age coming on.

The last  two answers by Pirsig -- "Every day is a good day" and "I wake
up in the morning and am happy if I see sunlight"  -- ought to framed and 
placed adjacent to the bathroom mirror in every home.
