Hi David,
Yup, I did use "random" but in scare quotes - it's the classic
Darwinian term often used, but full of potential to mislead -
problematic as you say.
As Platt mentioned in another thread - DQ is Pirsig's metaphor for the
processes giving rise to the opportunities for change within
evolution.
What we call it is less important than how we see it and as you (and
I) also said elsewhere - with Pirsigian DQ we're really looking more
at a (Whiteheadian) process view rather than some static ontological
view.
