In re: Rand
1) True, she writes in a language other than her native tongue. But so do many other writers. If you're not bilingual you might think this is impossible to do well. If you are bilingual you'll take it as a matter of course.
2) True, her novels (particularly, "Atlas Shrugged") are long. You might wish that for that length her characters were more nuanced or undergo more developement. That is not Rand's style. You'll like her writing style if you like that kind of writing. I've known people who upon finishing "Atlas Shrugged" turn to the first page & begin reading again.
3) True, others before her have had views similar to hers. Yet as the terms "Randism", "Randianism" or "Objectivism" (her preferred term) attest, her philosophy was worthy of being considered as a coherent whole. I would think that she is considered the greatest female philosopher ever.
