Micah, interesting question.
geologic record or, the bones we dug out of the ground in the now,
suggest that the now once was populated by huge creatures no longer
present in the now. We may experience their remains in the now but does
this mean they never existed alive? a good question.
Ron,
The past exists now. Time is not linear. Unless time is 2
dimensional...but our reality is at least 3 dimensional.

Micah,
At which point in my above statement do I recognize time as being
linear? I simply post another
thoughtful question in regard to your last statement.
By the by, I feel I do owe you an apology. In researching this thread I
have found very good
evidence which supports your interpetation of the MOQ. and it is as
viable an interpretation
as at least two other possible interpretations. Solopsism and value /SO
dualism are are possible
interpretations along with a taoist oneness.
Craig,
Nothing exists 4.5 billion years ago, nor 1 million years ago, nor 6000
years ago. Now only exists and the past, a human mental concept, only
exists in our perception of now. Your premise is; that time exists
independent of man - could you please show how you know this? Who could
have put time there (other than us)? What is time?
Micah

Let's look at a specific example: when did the earth come into
existence?
1) 4.5 billion years ago (according to scientists)
2) 1 million years ago (according to early man)
3) 6,000 years ago (according to the Bible)
If 1) is correct, then the earth existed prior to our experience of it.
