Hear, hear. I'd probably use the word "model" or "explanatory
framework" rather than the word "theory" - which has connotations of
being doubtful - but I'd agree. Paul Turner spent a fair bit of time
of this point, once upon a time - using the analogy of a page and the
ideas expressed on it.
