I'm not sure what your quote of me was referring to, and I'm not sure
what you are objecting to other than my word choice. I think I took
this use of "substance" from Northrop when he was describing Locke's
philosophy. Call it what you want.
How many thoughts fit in a shot glass or how many shot glasses fit in
a thought? The point is, in SOM terms they are different universes
with no connection while the MOQ is able to relate them in a static
hierarchy by demonstrating the two connecting terms of biological and
social patterns.

I was merely checking to see if you buy this notion of mental substance or
disembodied consciousness. James would say no, that mental events arise from
physical substance. There is a long history of attempts to validate James
ideas here. I do not think this is unique to the MoQ.
