Marsha,

As an option, while waiting for whoever to do whatever, I recently ran
across text-to-speech software. ATT's Natural Voice has fairly realistic
voices, male and female, even ones with British accents. You can paste a
chapter from the book into the software and it will generate an MP3 file.
Computer voices lack some of the dramatic emphasis that humans interject
into their reading. But once you get used to it, it is like listening to
someone with a slightly off accent.

I realize this is not for everyone but not too long ago I listened to
Hawking's Cambridge Lectures which was read in Hawking's own speech
synthesized voice. That was kind of weird. These new voices have better
sound quality but as I said the affect it off.
