Marsha commented on our crazy times:
What a hoot. The pinnacle of evolution: diaper wearing astronuts driving 900
miles to kidnap the rival for their affection, gay meth smoking evangelists
who have sudden conversions to heterosexuality, and a "Decider" who's out to
nuke the world.
dmb says:
Yea, you gotta laugh. These are the sorts of things that confirm my little
hunch. Well, its practically a theory by now. This theory says that God is
not the creator of the universe, exactly, but he acts as a kind of cosmic
playwright. Unlike the so-called "intelligent design" theory, my hunch is
based on the notion that God is not always so good at his job and that once
in a while we get a glimpse of what a hack she is. I mean, lady astronauts
in diapers? Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband calls himself a prince and says he's the
father of the late Anna Nicole's half a billion dollar baby? George Bush is
commander in chief? This stuff is just too far over the top to be believed.
All the world is a stage and God is the writer of the drama that unfolds,
but some scenes show a lack of intelligent design. I know they were written
because they were so badly written. I think this is what Kierkegaard meant
when he said he believed in God because it is absurd. I'll admit that the
sense of humor is admirable and nobody cranks out the epic horrors like God
can, but I think she's getting way too sloppy lately. Another anti-gay
preacher living a secret life of gay sex? She's just phoning it in now.
She's used that same basic scene many times in recent years. Its been done
to death. We get it, already. Don't ever let your children be alone with a
Christian. Who doesn't know that by now?
Call me old fashioned, but I'd like to see her return to a more traditonal
form of story telling. You know, where the bad guys get it "in the end" in
the temporal sense rather than physiologically.
