No finer example of Orwellian Newspeak exists than conservative attempts to
paint these organizations as "special interests". To claim that action in
the public interest is somehow greedy and aimed at self aggrandizement is
ridiculous. If you can not see the difference between Greenpeace and Exxon
you are indeed "that" naïve.

All totalitarian governments rise in the name of the "public interest" If
you are not aware of that, you are indeed naive. As for the difference
between Exxon and Greenpeace the former propels your van to wherever you
want to go, the latter wants to use totalitarian power to impound it.

Special interest were originally defined as interest in opposition to public
interest. But you think Greenpeace and the Sierra Club are part of a
totalitarian conspiracy?
