That is just positive spin that ignores
the social and ego and conservative factors
that are embodied in the notion of paradigm.
If we ignore these negatives we simply reinforce them.
That is why Kuhn is useful. I am not saying we can't
monitor and overcome these problems but we must
be aware of their reality.

[Case]
To the extent that a paradigm serves the function of static latching I would
say it is a purpose well served. The quest of knowledge and understanding is
and always has been a very dynamic process.

Kuhn is useful in reminding us not to latch things up too tightly but he
performs a disservice if he is read to mean that no latching is needed.
