> We need pragmatic use balanced against over zealous

This is an excellent summation of what gav
mentioned in the Achilles Heal post, as well. This
also rids decontextualization that Arlo mentioned.
Intellect very well may be decontextualized, but with
practice, that is with pragmatic use, intellect is
actualized in all the levels. This would also go
along with Pirsig's static levels are small self and
big self of dynamic quality. The 'splitting' up of
the intellect during an "over zealous analysis" would
also mirror the decontextualization. So, the
intellect is just expressing how it is being used
during an SOM/decontextualization 'splitting' during
an "over zealous analysis". It is being used further
and further away from the rest of the world (the
context), thus, the intellectual thoughts of this kind
of philosophy (SOM) reflect somebody involved with
thinking alot in their head distancing themselves from
the rest of the world in order to come up with
thoughts about the world, in other words, the SOM
split. Yet, with pragmatic use thrown into the
picture the mind/intellect will express or will mirror
more of a contextualized philosophy as opposed to an
SOM decontextualized philosophy.
morning, yet, still night,
