Yes, such forms of "repression" as the values of hard work, self-discipline,
self-sacrifice, relentless effort, delayed gratification, individual initiative,
commitment to excellence, competition by merit, family unity, honor in achievement,
etc., etc. -- the "conservative" values whereby one gains the pride and dignity of
being responsible for one's own advancement.
