You're in the same circular trap as the "survival of the fittest" people. If the
"purpose" of life is to live, then the answer to "why survive?" is simply "we
survive so that we can live". Although I respect your acknowledgement that
"our" purpose is not more supreme than the dinosaurs, it answer the question in
the question.

According to you, "we survive so that we can survive". Okay, if that gives you a
warm, fuzzy important feeling, all power to you.
