No, seriously though ....

The word "reality" is just a figure of speech, but if we are going to
try and get definitional about something like "reality - what is it ?"
style; we are even closer to the base of our metaphysics than quality
itself. Axiomatically - reality is. Quality is our primary basis for
subdividing and further characterising it, so as with quality itself
questions like how literal / metaphorical is our use of the word
"reality" to represent it, is pretty meaningless - both and neither at
best.
